On December 16, 1989, Gerald Flurry, along with John Amos (a WCG minister who was also disfellowshipped at the same time, but later died in 1993), founded the Philadelphia Church of God, headquartered in Edmond, Oklahoma, with 12 members, proclaiming to be the only church that holds fast to all the teachings and dogma of Herbert W.
